 Vocabulary 

PRIMARY SOURCES: sources produced during the historical time under study. They provided first-hand evidence and have not been altered in any way over time but remain in their original state.

 

SECONDARY SOURCES: (or historiographical sources) they are written documents elaborated by people without any first-hand experience, after the period under study.

 

HISTORIOGRAPHY: study of the methods of historians in developing history as an academic discipline, and by extension is any body of historical work on a particular subject, covering how historians have studied a topic or a genre using particular sources, techniques, and theoretical approaches.
